Has anyone heard any good HIPAA stories or seen any good political HIPAA cartoons...especially Administration Simplification? I've been asked to dress up a HIPAA presentation with some humor. Frankly, I don't see anything humorous about this, but then again, maybe I'm just too cynical.

A couple years ago our local chapter of WPBC had a luncheon topic on HIPAA. My boss talked me into going, on the basis that a much "HIPAA" crowd would be attending than is usually the case. Sorry, grasping at straws.

jeanine -

I think you're right, there's not much about HIPAA that's humorous. I would challenge this crowd to a HIPAA Haiku contest, which lets us all vent and left brain activate and gives you some stand up material!

Here goes:

Soon it will be here
HIPAA: what must be done now?
We sweat much at night

Privacy oh no
When we make bad disclosure
Will we go to jail?

C'mon, y'all...help jeanine out here!

I love that Hank! Do you mind if I use your original verse?

Hey, look on the bright side, HIPAA may not be funny but at least it does not violate the unpronounceable acronym rule.

If you plan on having a cocktail session after the presentation, here's a limerick that you can try, if you like. Wouldn't make in part of the formal presentation, however.

Here is a quick little tip-a,
'Bout a law that's known as HIPAA.
My advice is to try,
Real hard to comply,
Or else a new one they'll rip ya!

Hank,

I just figured it our. I did what I should have done in the first place, i.e. look up the definition of "Haiku"

Love the haiku suggestion. How about:

Administrative
simplification is not.
False advertising.

(Punctuation is everything!)
