Participant received distribution in 2009, wants 1099-R issued now.

Relius software appears to issue only 2008 Forms.

How would you handle this?

Thanks for any help!

I suspect this is a question of what the participant really wants, which might not be an actual 1099 form but just the information that will appear on it. Perhaps s/he is planning ahead for the 2009 income and tax liability and only need a breakdown on taxable/non-taxable, long-term capital gains (if applicable) etc.

Somewhat to my surprise, there is a 2009 1099-R form on the IRS web site, although I think trying to provide a "real" 1099-R to a participant now increases the risk of errors.

I have worked with employers who provide a 1099-R along with the distribution check, so this question is uncommon but not unheard of.
