Report Predicts Health Care Cost Trends Will Level Off

July 29, 2008 Excerpt: The growth in health care costs paid by employers is expected to level off in 2009 after five years of deceleration, a report from PricewaterhouseCoopers' Health Research Institute predicts. Based on a survey of more than 500 employer and health plans providing coverage to 11 million lives, New York-based PricewaterhouseCoopers found that medical costs will increase by 9.6 percent on average next year, compared with an average of 9.9 percent this year.
