Health Plans Work to Counter Ailing Enrollment Among Small Employers Jolted by Economy

Excerpt: Since September, the percentage of small employers that don't offer health coverage has jumped from 29% to 34%, according to the 2008 American Express OPEN Spring Monitor, a semiannual survey of small-business owners. And over the past six months, 20% of employers say they have been shopping for a new carrier to secure a better rate. Several publicly traded health plans say they are feeling the hit.
