PERFORMAX Launches Consumer-Driven Health Plan

Baltimore, MD -- 11/11/2003 -- PERFORMAX, a Baltimore-based national developer, manager and administrator of self-funded employee health and benefit plans, announces the launch of PERFORMAX Consumer Care, a consumer-driven health plan designed to motivate employees to consider both quality and cost when seeking health care services. Consumer Care offers educational tools and a variety of informational resources to help employees understand the complex health care system and become knowledgeable health care consumers. The result: employees spend less on health care services and companies exert increased control over rising health benefit costs.

Canova, President & CEO, explains how the new PERFORMAX Consumer Care plan works. “The basic framework of Consumer Care is a high-deductible PPO plan coupled with an HRA that we call a Consumer Care Account. After participants deplete the funds in their Consumer Care Accounts and meet their deductibles, the PPO plan begins to pay their medical expenses. The PERFORMAX Provider Network includes a broad base of physicians, specialists, hospitals and other health care providers. Plan participants can use any physician they choose; however, when they use an in-network physician, their benefits are higher and their personal costs are lower."

PERFORMAX clients can offer Consumer Care as a stand-alone plan or side by side with traditional health plans. This flexibility allows a company to develop a customized health benefit program that meets their financial and business objectives. It also enables them to offer employees a choice of plan options to meet their diverse lifestyles and health care needs.
