Gary S. Lesser, Esq. began his career in employee benefits at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), where he served as both a Tax Law Specialist and Attorney in the Employee Plans/Exempt Organizations Division. Following his work with the IRS, he managed and operated a pension administration and actuarial services company. Mr. Lesser also served as an ERISA marketing attorney for a national brokerage firm and has held senior vice president and director roles overseeing retirement plans for several prominent families of mutual funds and variable annuity products.
Mr. Lesser is currently the principal of GSL Galactic Publishing, LLC, located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Through his consulting practice, he provides technical consulting and publishing services to professionals and business owners. A nationally recognized author and educator, Mr. Lesser focuses on retirement plans for individuals and small businesses. He is an accomplished speaker with extensive technical and practical knowledge of both qualified and nonqualified retirement plans.
Mr. Lesser serves as the technical editor and co-author of the SIMPLE, SEP, and SARSEP Answer Book, the Roth IRA Answer Book, the Health Savings Account Answer Book, and the 457 Answer Book, all published by Wolters Kluwer. He is also a co-author of Basic Accounting Simplified (GSL Galactic Publishing).
His writing has appeared in numerous professional journals, including the EP/EO Digest, Journal of Taxation of Employee Benefits, Journal of Compensation and Benefits, Journal of Pension Benefits, Life Insurance Selling, Rough Notes, and the NAPFA Advisor.
In addition, Mr. Lesser has published several software programs illustrating contribution calculations for SEP, SARSEP, SIMPLE, and 403(b) plans.
Mr. Lesser earned his law degree from New York Law School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and before the United States Tax Court. Mr. Lesser can be contacted at QPSEP@aol.com.
