Guest haaron
For some reason, my Crystal Report isn't showing my Relius data. I'm very new to Crystal and am not sure how to re-establish my link. I am logged in and when I "browse field data" I see my info but when I "preview" there's no data. What am I missing? TIA Heather
pmacduff
I'm no Crystal expert, but I think if you click on "verify database" from the database menu. Sometimes with the Relius updates they change variables in the database and Crystal doesn't know where to find them. If you verify the database to update the tables in your report, it might work. Hope this helps. Patti
Guest haaron
Yea, I tried that. But it didn't work. I'm stuck. HELP!!!! If I open any other Relius report, they show data properly. My report is a Relius report that I removed some fields from. Could I have deleted something that caused it to loose it's connection with Relius? pmacduff
I've had that happen to...do you still have the original report before you made changes? Maybe you can try deleting one field at a time...If I recall, sometimes it was the client and/or plan name that I deleted and Relius couldn't access the data. Tom Poje on these boards has been a tremendous help to me in the past with Crystal issues, if he doesn't read your thread, you might want to try sending him a message directly. He's the moderator on the "crosstested" plan board. Sorry I couldn't be more help.................
Guest haaron
I'm trying to modify psdberpl.rpt to fit my needs. But, even this report doesn't pull in my plan info. I must be missing a link somehow. Can anyone suggest what table I need to bring in my plan data?
Guest haaron
pmacduff, thanks for the info. Hopefully Tom will check on it. If not, I'll send him a note. Thanks for all your help.
Tom Poje
remember, Tom is at best a babbling idiot who has gotten lucky playing around in Crystal. I guess question number 1 is why you are trying to preview the report from Crystal, rather than to look at it under report writer. It is a DB report report, I suspect one of the fields it is trying to pull (e.g. something stupid like PLANACCESS) is blank, and the system freaks out at that point. No seriously, I mean it. I think I tried creating a report once to pull some fields, and if one of them was blank, you got nothing. I have the same problem sometimes in census if Beneficiary is left blank. or something similar to that, I don't recall for sure what field causes the problem. I would look at the report in Crystal, and make sure each field is completed, even if it is just a bogus value.
Tom Poje
ok, try putting something under administrater name. I tried it - if its blank, the report prints blank in Report Writer. If there is something in that field, it works - at least at this end. yet another unexplainable mystery
pmacduff
Tom - just for a chuckle I thought I'd tell you...you know how the messages appear in your e-mail, don't look quite the same as they do on the boards directly, right? Well when I first looked at mine of this thread, I was horrified to think that someone would write something like the beginning line in your post, even if it was in fun - what a relief to find it was you poking fun at you!!! Guest haaron
Tom Even a babbling idiot is better than a complete idiot in Crystal. I'm always willing to learn from anyone. I have to admit, I'm not following your email. I want to run the report from Crystal because I want to print this out for every plan. I've attached my report. I haven't finished the report yet this is just a first draft.
Tom Poje
Haaron I have fond memories of Kansas City. my mom's parent's lived in Missouri, 804 E. 40 th street. I vaguely recall the park - maybe 1/2 mile away. at least within walking distance to a kid! My dad's parents lived in KC, Kansas - so I got to see both sides for a week or two every summer. I remember the stockyards, the (Herford) Building with the big cow on top. The old baseball park, with the 40ft high chain link fence down the line. I'll try looking at your report, though as I said, I got a blank report in Report Writer if administrator name was blank, so that might be the problem. If it is in your report, try deleting that field and see what happens.
Tom Poje
ok, I surrender. but I did try pulling most of the fields from psdberpl.rpt into my PlanList report. The data gets pulled so that is good news. I did not try to pull comp yr begin and end , and admin name this means PLANCOMP and ADMIN tables are not used in the report. So, logical conclusion is that one of those tables prevents global data from being pulled. (Or all of my data is under 'detail' section.) anyway, enclosed is a real crude version for you to pretty up. I simply placed the fields quickly into the report to see what would happen. Good grief, why I am spending time on it is beyond me, but Patti knows a sucker from previous crystal questions. after opening the report, you will need to click Report/Select Expert and delete the selected plan, that way the report has a chance of pulling data. I am not quite sure how these reports work in Crystal, I know quite often you have to choose 'refresh' if you want to rerun the report.

FAPInJax
Just a quick thought that others more proficient in Crystal may be able to comment on. The report that you have chosen to modify contains tables (links) which are only populated when run through Relius (RPTPLAN for example). This could be causing your problem because there is no data in that table and the rest of the links are breaking down. IMPORTANT: The deletion of that table will require some of the fields to be relinked to their basis. For example, the plan name is in PLANSTAT.PlanNam rather than using RPTPLAN. Good luck!! Guest haaron
Tom-You should get back to KC for a visit. It's a completely new place. The growth here has been incredible. Frank-It was RPTPLAN that was causing my problem. I deleted the field referencing it and then the database and all is well. Thanks to everyone for all your help. Since this is going to be trial and error learning for me, I really appreciate everyone's help and guidance. Happy Holidays Heather
Tom Poje
Heather: I think the last time I was in KC was back in '72. no silly, not 1872. Good grief - that's 30 years ago. Can't believe its been that long. But that was back around the end of my high schools, so I don't remember much about the city. The Crown Plaza sticks in my head, I also vaguely recall a mall we used to climb on the animals when we were kids - though I couldn't tell you if it was an enclosed mall or not. I remember catching the fireflies at night as well!
