alexa
An employee of ours is covering his age 24 daughter. She just got a job and wants to enroll in her new employer's plan. Our employee wants to also to continue to cover her under our plan since there is no extar cost to him to do so. If she enrolls in her new employer's plan, must we continue to cover her? Chaz
If your plan is grandfathered under PPACA, you generally do not have to cover the child because the age 26 mandate does not apply to children who are eligible for other employer-based coverage for grandfathered plans. If not, you will have to cover the child, although under traditional COB rules your plan probably will pay on a secondary basis.
GMK
fussy detail - State law may give children coverage eligibility to age 26, even if federal law does not.
