Tom Poje
a few days late, but April 20 was the 19th anniversary for Benefits Link. at least, according to the coffee mug I received a few years ago. Thanks to all who have shared info. I certainly have learned a lot, not just from the answers, but from the questions themselves. Many force me to use that thing that is rusting away between my ears. I especially appreciate a numbers of friends, even if distant, who I have made through the site. by coincidence, my 5500th posting. That seems rather appropriate. Thanks again Dave! david rigby
Hear! Hear! Attaboy, Dave. I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
GMK
Totally agree. BL is like perpetual education. Thanks to all posters (... well, in truth, maybe excluding one.) HOORAY for Dave and congrats.
Lame Duck
This site has taught me so much. It is usually the first place I go for answers. Thanks Dave for helping all of us keep up with the ever changing world of retirement.
Kevin C
Congratulations and many thanks Dave. The same goes for the moderators and users who help keep this site great.
Dave Baker
Thanks so much, everybody! Actually, I am confused. BenefitsLink is only one year old; my son is only 2; I am only 37; Lois and I have been married only 5 years; Ross Perot is saying some interesting things and may be a factor in whether Clinton is re-elected; I am having the time of my life running a "web site" and making speeches around the country explaining "e-mail" and its possibilities for keeping pension administrators in touch with their clients; one day I might even shut down my solo law practice entirely, if employers are willing to pay more than $25 for each ad on the site's new job board. (This new "Monster" web site with its logo on blimps floating around Orlando must be successful.) I just paid $500 to have some tech guru set up a "bulletin board" on my web site, and it's attracting some attention from practitioners. It is great to be young; I will never grow older; retirement savings is a neat idea for a deduction, but something I'll probably never tap ... there's an exception from the 10% additional tax if the participant is at least age 55? Might be interesting to some old guys, but to me it's only a line in the Internal Revenue Code at this point. Gotta go -- Joey's throwing a tantrum about something. Dave Baker
Haw! Tom, I think of that day every single time I go through Jacksonville ... racing like a bat out of hell from Orlando to make the Jacksonville noon pension meeting, because Kinko's in Orlando didn't have the outlines ready for me to pick up at the promised time but instead already had put them into the hands of poor deliveryman Walt, who took the brunt of my frustration when he finally showed up at my office. BG5150
Are we getting mugs again? (BTW, I'm sipping tea from the 17th anniversary mug right now.) QKA, QPA, CPC, ERPATwo wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left.
Effen
Mugs? I never got a mug. Of course, after 5,500 posts, Tom certainly deserves some sort or prize. Thanks Dave for all you do. Great site - head and shoulders better than the COPA Cobanna, but we really should plan some sort of major celebration for next year's 20th anniversary. Belgarath
I'll add to the list of laudatory comments. This site is, hands down, the best of its type on the internet. Congratulations, and keep up the good work. And a thank you to all the posters out there - I learn more from this board than from most of the continuing education that is required - these "real life" situations force me to, as Tom says, use the thing between my ears (Tom, I prefer the term atrophied to rusting.)
