Continuing Education in Health Claims Administration

I work for a TPA in Central IL processing managed care self insured and fully insured health and short term disability claims. I want learn more (i.e. fraud prevention, state mandates, ect) but have no idea were to start. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I also work for a TPA. For state mandates, I can recommend a reference work from Health Policy Tracking Service called Major Health Care Policies, 50 State Profiles. Their website is http://www.htps.org and phone is 202-624-3567. Good luck.

The Health Insurance Association of American (HIAA) offers self-study courses in health insurance and managed care. They have 10 courses leading up to two professional designations: Health Insurance Associate (HIA) and Managed Healthcare Professional (MHP). I purchased some of their books and study guides earlier this year for my daughter who was supervising a hospital accounts payable department. She found the books very helpful.
