401king
Is there a general consensus on who is responsible for signing the Form 5500 when the trustees change after the end of the year? Would the new trustee sign the prior year's 5500, or does the previous trustee retain that responsibility? R. Alexander
jpod
Since when does the trustee sign the 5500? Has something changed for 2017?
Madison71
ERISA requires the Plan Admin. to sign and file although authorized rep can file in their behalf.
C. B. Zeller
Putting aside the fact that it is the plan administrator, not the trustee, is required to sign, what would you do if the former administrator resigned and moved to Tahiti? Chase them down and make them sign a form? Or what if they were hit by a bus? It's the administrator at the time the form is signed. Free advice is worth what you paid for it. Madison71
May be a good excuse to chase them down - nice vacation to Tahiti. I would say it is the PA authorized to file at the time it is filed
