I am working with a governmental employer that wants to establish a 457 plan. I am aware of a group in D. C. called ICMA that does a very professional job on these plans. Can anyone give me any other entities that can establish the framework/investments for such a program? Thanks for your help.

There are quite a few. The two largest 457 providers are PEBSCO and BenefitsCorp, run by Nationwide Insurance and Great-West Life respectively.

VALIC is a company that you should take a look at. American General Corporation is the parent company. Email me and I will give you more information and a contact person.

The 10/2/2000 issue of Pensions & Investments contains quite a bit of information on market share of defined contribution plan recordkeepers based on data reported by the recordkeepers themselves. One chart lists the number of plan sponsors that each provider has, broken down by the type of plan including 457 plans.
