Guest motor Posted July 17, 2001 Posted July 17, 2001 Hey Everyone, I was wondering if camp ( music camp, summer camp, ect.) would fall under dependent care. Any input wound be a great help. Thanks in adavance, Motor
QDROphile Posted July 17, 2001 Posted July 17, 2001 Overnight camp--no. To the extent the program is one of education instead of simply childcare--no. Theme camps are a bit tougher to justify because they tend to promote the educational aspects. But "before care" and "after care" would be OK even if the core is not qualified. Often those amounts are separately negotiated and stated.
Guest Nancy Cullins Posted July 20, 2001 Posted July 20, 2001 The camps you noted are all allowed provided that the reason the child is at camp is in order for you and your spouse (if Married) to work or attend school on a full time basis. However, if it is an overnight camp - The costs for the overnight portion must be excluded from the reimbursement.
