pmacduff Posted January 8, 2002 Posted January 8, 2002 We have updated to Relius version 7.0 with the new 8.5 Crystal Reports. I have many "custom" reports that I keep in my Crystal Directory. Is there an easy way to update these reports from the old Crystal version? I started to open each report, verify the databases, and update, but it seems to me that there ought to be an easier and faster way to do this. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Sue H Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 No, there isn't really an "easy" way to convert your reports, but it isn't absolutely necessary to do -- just "suggested." If you have "verify on every print" turned on in a report, then Crystal will verify it automatically when you run it. The biggest potential problem is that if there have been a large number of changes to the database, Crystal could get an error during the process due to the volume of changes. Crystal could also error if you are using a field in the report that no longer exists in the database. Updating the report with "verify" and resaving is a method to verify that all fields in the report are valid in the new database. Verifying your reports and saving them also speeds up the report running time if changes have been made to the database fields.
pmacduff Posted January 10, 2002 Author Posted January 10, 2002 Sue - Thanks so much for the reply. Because I updated both to Version 7.0 Relius and Version 8.5 Crystal, I thought it would be a good idea to update all my custom reports. I know what you are saying, I do have the "verify on print" checked on all of my custom reports. I figured with both version changes it would be a good idea to do them all now, rather than in the throes of busy season when I might run into a problem. Thanks again. Patti
