Guest SGriffin Posted January 11, 2002 Posted January 11, 2002 We are a construction management company and are thinking of contracting a superintendent for one of our projects. This superintendent is requesting we cover his worker's compensation. We do not feel we should be allowing/offering this - is this the case? What are the exceptions?
GBurns Posted January 12, 2002 Posted January 12, 2002 WC is not something you can offer to an employee, it is something your company must have if it is so required by state law. It is no different from your General Liability coverage in this respect. It is also usually not some thing that can cover an independent contractor. Maybe you want to consider rephrasing. George D. david rigby Posted January 12, 2002 Posted January 12, 2002 You might also look at the website for your state's Department of Labor. There may be a list of frequently asked questions that covers this issue. I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
