Guest fxbergmeister Posted February 11, 2002 Posted February 11, 2002 Question: DoD allows a service member to elect for a one time bonus of $30,000 vice more retirement in the choice of election between a High-3 or the REDUX /Bonus. ( See the OSD military compensation web site at http://militarypay.dtic.mil/actives/retire...ad/19_faqs.html ) How come the military spouse does not have to be consulted? The retirement is ultimately affected by the service member's choice! Thanks, FX
maverick Posted February 11, 2002 Posted February 11, 2002 I'm surprised they don't require spouse approval. When I retired in 1989, my wife had to sign-off on my election to NOT enroll in the survivor benefit program. That's my .02 cents. Maverick
