Guest RJM Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 It was stated in a 5500 seminar last week that if a pension (db, mpp, psp, k, etc.) plan includes Insurance, feature code 4B must be included on line 8b. Can anyone confirm this?
Disco Stu Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 My understanding is that this is true. Here's a link to a previous discussion on this subject. http://benefitslink.com/boards/index.php?showtopic=10280
pmacduff Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 According to the way my software and instructions state, that 4B code for insurance is only applicable to Welfare Benefit Plans, not Pension Plans. As a matter of fact, if you click on the "IRS/PWBA instructions after you check the Pension Plan box, the "4" options are not even available, you have to move down to the Welfare benefits line, there it shows 4B for life insurance.
R. Butler Posted April 11, 2002 Posted April 11, 2002 RJM, Your understanding is correct. I haven't really done thing with 2002's 5500 yet, but in the 2001 instructions there was an example that illustrated the point.
