Guest ckolodziej Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 Does anyone know where I can get copies of old 5500s? I have checked freeerisa.com and planeterisa.com and the most recent info is for 1998. I have a takeover plan (PYE 5/31/01) and I am unsure of whether or not they filed the 2000 return for 2001 Plan Year end. The prior administrator recently passed away so I have limited information at my disposal. All participants have self-directed accounts and I am trying to piece it all together but it would be nice to have a total balance to come back to just to make sure I have all the info. The employer has provided all info they have. Where can I find out when the last return was filed and what the ending balance was? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Connie
david rigby Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 Perhaps this might help. From the PWBA website, Frequently Asked Questions, http://askpwba.dol.gov/faq-compliance-pension.html "Q. Is there telephone assistance available for Form 5500 and Form 5500-EZ filers? A. PWBA has made available a toll-free telephone number, 866.463.3278 to provide a variety of assistance to plan filers. This toll-free service is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm EST and may be utilized by individuals who need assistance: in responding to correspondence received from PWBA about EFAST processing of their Form 5500 or 5500-EZ filing; with general questions about EFAST; with questions and/or need help completing the Form 5500 or Form 5500-EZ. Callers may also utilize PWBA’s toll-free number to access the Internal Revenue Service and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation." I'm a retirement actuary. Guest Emiliano Posted April 25, 2002 Posted April 25, 2002 DOL also has a public disclosure service: (202) 693-8673
Guest b2kates Posted April 25, 2002 Posted April 25, 2002 Why doesn't the plan sponsor have a copy of the 5500? Are they not responsible to sign the return for filing. TPA is not the party to file the return. No copy, good assumption is return not filed.
