R. Butler Posted May 3, 2002 Posted May 3, 2002 We are leaping into the 1990's and actually administering new comparability plans. The document I am looking at has only 2 classes of employees. Each class shares in a different Pool of money. How do I allocate each Pool to the right group in Relius? Thanks for any guidance.
Guest CyndyB Posted May 3, 2002 Posted May 3, 2002 First you have to go to the Employer screen and set up Divisions (usually identify classes by either letter or number - e.g. A,B,etc. or 1,2, etc.). IMPORTANT-do not use the Default division for one of your classes. Then go into the employee status screen and identify each employee to a Division. IMPORTANT-do not leave anyone in the Default division. I found out the hard way that if you allocate money to the Default division (which doesn't really exist), it goes to everyone. Then you post a transaction for employer contribution to each specific division.
AndrewZ Posted May 3, 2002 Posted May 3, 2002 Quantech won't solve for max/min benefits under new comparability - you have to purchase the Relius Proposal System for that. Andrew, ERPA, CPC, QPA
Guest Christopher Posted May 6, 2002 Posted May 6, 2002 It is good to see another user from Lexington, KY on here. I ran across that same problem. I also discovered that I needed to use Relius Proposal System to solve. I hope this helps. Christopher
Guest CyndyB Posted May 7, 2002 Posted May 7, 2002 We, too, have the Proposal system, but I haven't really gotten into that yet. It seems like a lot of work to export from Relius, Import into Proposal, go the the FDPa4 package, go back to Proposal, export then import back to Relius. Especially if you have more than 2 classes. I actually make an initial run on Relius, then tweek it by doing most of the calculations myself using the Relius tests. I think I can do it faster that way than switching back and forth between softwares. What are others doing?
Tom Poje Posted May 7, 2002 Posted May 7, 2002 same, I can calculate the adjustments needed fairly rapidly. somewhere on an earlier thread are my relius nondiscrim notes, and buried in them are tips how to calculate to pass a failed test as well. there is also an excel sheet floating around on the nondiscrim board which, while it won't do eligibility, is very easy to use and make adjustments to different classes
Guest Tbrown Posted May 16, 2002 Posted May 16, 2002 I am just using the proposal system and once you get the importing and exporting down, it's very easy and very quick. We have spreadsheets here as well, but I haven't been using them much. The proposal system works well, but it has its share of bugs and limitations too. The word is that the a4 solving capability in the proposal system will be integrated into the administration system in the next 12 months. Lets hope so.
Guest DottleC2 Posted May 20, 2002 Posted May 20, 2002 We're using the Rel Proposal system as well. A couple of things I've learned. Proposal isn't hooked up to do the same type of eligibility calc as Admin right now The export in admin can be filtered to exclude ineligible participants Use the export contributions function on the menu, not the button in Plan view in A4 There were some slight changes to the DER map for Prop to Admin transfer. Test it a few times. Don't use the Demo database. After update, the Prop defaulted to this, and needed to be switched Bill
