It appears that Relius can not calculate mid year entry dates when processing an annual valuation (i.e. a 07/01/01 entry date when processing a 12/31/01 eligibility transaction)

If this is so, then this is a problem.

The work around appears to be removing the hours requirement from plan specs and then running eligibility OR hand calculating mid year entry dates and then manually entering them.

Any other ideas and/or comments.

Dave - I think the solution might be for you to run more than one eligibility transaction. I know it should bring them in, but I have been running my semi-annuals actually with 3 eligibility transactions; 01/01, 07/01 and 12/31. It seems to work for me. Hope this helps. Patti

I would have to see an example first.

we run must of our plans on an annual basis, one eligibility transaction dated 12/31 and haven't had a problem with entry dates showing up as 1/1 or 7/1 depending on the employees date of hire. of course there are always exceptions to every situation, but I would want more details first.

I agree with Tom. We have also been running our annual valuations with just the one eligibility transaction and have not had any problems at all. There must be something else going on.

Hi Dan,

Eligibility uses the payroll end date as the date on which the ee met the hours requirement. An ee is considered to have met entry requirements on the latest of three dates: the day they meet age, the day they meet hours & the day they meet wait. Once this date is determined, eligibility compares it to the entry definition (single date, dual, etc.) to set the actual entry date. If you use an annual payroll period & don't use a retroactive entry definition, most ees will not enter mid-year.

For example, in a plan with no waiting period but a 1000 hour requirement that uses annual payroll, eligibility would not consider any of the ees to have met the hours requirement until the end of that payroll period. Even if the ee has 2000 hours for the plan year, Relius has no way to know on what date the 1000th hour was worked and therefore must use payroll end date.

However, an ee who has a year of service is considered to have already met the hours requirement & eligibility will therefore only look at age & wait if this is the case.

Hope this helps!

Sue makes a good point. If you have a one year wait and someone was hired on 5/15/00 the system would have trouble entering them on 7/1/01 if the only eligibility transaction was 12/31/00. And it wouldn't matter if you ran one on 6/30/01 or 7/01/01 if the only hours were entered on 12/31/01. The difference would be if they worked 1000 hours in the prior year (5/15/00 - 12/31/00). If they did, Relius would enter them on 7/1/01. If not, they likely wouldn't.

One thing you might try is entering a "Met entry requirements on" date of 6/30/01 before running eligibility. That would likely bring them in on 7/1/01.
