Guest kredlin Posted July 10, 2002 Posted July 10, 2002 Is a welfare plan (health or disability) allowed to require participants to file claims through e-mail? The electronic distribution regs don't seem to address this and I would think there must be some kind of protection for employees who don't have access to e-mail, but I can't find such a protection in the law.
Steve72 Posted July 10, 2002 Posted July 10, 2002 DOL Regs. 2560.503-1(B)(3) states that a plan's claims procedures cannot contain a provision that unduly hampers the initiation or processing of a claim. That would seem to fit the bill.
