Does anyone have any recommendations where education/communication pieces can obtained - particularly free material via the web?

My first suggestion would be to try to get your 401k provider or an investment manager to create and give it to you. Education is typically a cost to generate more investment management fees. But you may have already tried this approach.

But I don't think you're going to find much "targeted education" materials for free. That material is usually created by big-name consulting firms or large mutual fund complexes for significant fees.

Again, what you want my not be available online, because that kind of material is usually reserved for those willing to pay for it.
