I am looking for information on flexible work options, ie job sharing - telecommuting - flextime - compressed work weeks

My company has several employees who are "off-site." Their situations are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and individual requirements are set up depending upon job needs.

Some of the employees return to the home office on a weekly basis; some on a quarterly basis; some on an ad hoc basis worked out with their supervisor.

In every bse so far, the choice for the employer was to allow the employee to go off site or lose that employee. I'm sure in some cases I don't know about, the decision was made to let the employee go.

The employees are hooked up to the office by computer and have if they have client contact, a separate telephone line with an 800 number is installed. They also have a fax/copier/printer paid for by the company.

The company is very pleased with the results.

To all:

Norene is also hoping for some written policy on these subjects. I know that my employer does not have a written policy on any of our flexible scheduling. It will be especially helpful if you can offer some written policy along with your examples.
