Moe Howard Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 Can anyone direct me to a website that discuses "Amending and restating a MPPP into a PSP" as opposed to merging a MPPP into an existing PSP ?
Guest greggi39 Posted December 27, 2002 Posted December 27, 2002 the corbel website had a comparison of merging mpp into p/s or term mpp and starting p/s. i am not sure if it is still on there. www.corbel.com
mbozek Posted December 28, 2002 Posted December 28, 2002 I dont see how you can restate a mpp to a psp without either merging or terminating the mppp. In a merger the surviving plan must maintain all the provisions required for a mppp; in a termination all of the mpp provisions are required (e.g., spousal consent , annuity payment requirement.) mjb
Moe Howard Posted December 30, 2002 Author Posted December 30, 2002 mb: It's called "restating a plan" (not merging and not terminating).
Guest Laura12345 Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 Datair.com also has an informative outline on the process of merging the plans. They discuss three different procedures that can be followed, all with the ultimate outcome that the plans are merged.
mbozek Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 Since the sucessor plan must maintain all of the provisions required for a MP plan, the procedures are the same as a merger, i.e., the restated plan must contain the MP provisions as well as the PS provisons. mjb
