Guest Darla K Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 I have a client who is telling me that her doctor has recommended that she get liposuction done because she is out of proportion. She is very small up top and larger around her waist area. I have a feeling she can't get reimbursed even though she has a doctor's note and recommendation, but please let me know if I am correct.
Sandra Pearce Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 Procedures that are strictly cosmetic are not reimburseable.
Lisa Hand Posted March 24, 2003 Posted March 24, 2003 What specific medical condition does the provider say this would be treating? "Out of proportion" is not a medical diagonsis.
Guest Darla K Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 I have informed the client that if it is neccessary to improve a deformity arising from, or directly related to, a congenital abnormality, a personal injury resulting from an accident or trauma or a disfiguring disease (as sited from IRS publication 502) that it can be covered but only with a doctor's note attached saying this is the case and that it is a medical necessity.
