pmacduff Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 Does anyone know if there is a way to copy a complete section in Crystal (for example the report footer) from one document to another without copying each text item separately? What I've done is modify a benefit statement for those participants with insurance (I only have 6 with insurance) so that their statements show cash value, death benefit & premium amount in the report footer. I have to go from one statement to the next copying each text item and wondered if there was any way for me to copy the whole report footer at once from one to the next. Any input is appreciated. Patti
Tom Poje Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 can't you just put in a formula If cash value = 0 then ' ' else 'Cash Value = ' + FIELD NAME and be done with it on all statements?
pmacduff Posted March 21, 2003 Author Posted March 21, 2003 Tom - wish I could - I neglected to tell you, we don't use the insurance module...I did everything with the user defined fields which I can use nicely for my Employer reports, but wasn't sure how I could pull the UD info for statements. I thought of that; putting it on and using a formula to keep it from the "non-insurance" participants, but I didn't have the energy or the time. The "cheating" way was to modify only the 6 I needed to.....Oh well...another project for down time:)
Tom Poje Posted March 24, 2003 Posted March 24, 2003 I've done the same 'cheating' thing. I have gone as far as to type in the info into the address fields and anything else in census I wasn't using. I see there are some rollover fields available as well, so always plenty of spots available.
Guest Ken Simons Posted April 15, 2003 Posted April 15, 2003 Not sure if this will help or it is what you are looking for, but: You don't have to copy each text item separately. To copy everything at one time, click on the top left position of the first item you want to copy. Then drag the mouse as far down and to the right as needed to cover all the fields wanted without releasing the mouse. You will see that all the fields are highlighted. At this point you can cut by pressing 'Ctrl C'. Bring up the document you want this copied into. Click on the position you want it inserted, and past by pressing 'Ctrl V'.
Fredman Posted April 15, 2003 Posted April 15, 2003 I'm not a Relius user, so I feel a little out of place, but what if... You create a subreport and insert the subreport into each main report. By doing it this way, you can make all of your formula & formatting changes in the subreport, insert the subreport into your main report and link it. Otherwise, you have to make the same formula & formatting changes in each main report. What a pain! As a side note (and this is where I'll might be out of place), its interesting that you have six separate Crystal files. Could you have one Crystal statement file (say for plans with insurance or one for portrait & one for landscape) and link it to the plan or plans you want to work with? I don't know how Relius works or your firm works (maybe each client has a customized statement, yuck), but I try to keep the number of Crystal files to a minimal.
pmacduff Posted April 17, 2003 Author Posted April 17, 2003 Thanks everyone for your replies... Ken - When you say Control "C" to cut, did you mean copy or will the info in the original file be "cut" instead of copied? A minor point, I know, but if I "cut" instead of copy, it defeats the purpose. Fredman - the subreport is a great idea! I have six individual statements because as I mentioned earlier, I'm not the most proficient in Crystal yet, so with this small client it was easier for me to copy the 6 individual statements to their own Crystal file and edit them to add the info I wanted. The balance of employees in the plan I printed out all at once with the basic statement format in Relius. Happy Easter to all! Patti
