I am looking for feedback on QT's Daily Valuation Modue. What advice can you give me as a first time user?

There really isn't a "Daily Valuation Module" for QT per se. The core system has the ability to track periodic (daily) unit/share prices of any asset and tracks units/shares and transaction activity at the participant level therefore enabling daily valuation processing.

However, to process daily 401(k) plans efficiently, you'll probably want to utilize the Investment Download feature in the Investment Table. This will give you the ability to download daily NAVs or share prices for virtually any fund or stock.

Next, you'll need to determine how and with whom you're going to trade with. QT supports electronic trading links with a variety of institutions including: Nationwide, Manulife, MassMutual, The New England, SunGard Expediter, First Trust, Schwab (Broker/Dealer and Trust), and Fidelity. Keep in mind however, when you're first starting out in daily with small volumes, you may choose to simply trade via FAX with any firm. QT supports this approach as well.

Finally, you have decisions on how to support participant balance inquiries as well as whether to offer daily transfers and/or loan modeling and initiation. You can support these inquiries by allowing participants to call you directly or you can opt for adding the QT Voice Response system or QT Web system (available in Nov.). Again, you may want to start out simple and do things the old fashioned way, by talking directly to the participant. Obviously, this is not the preferred approach as your volume increases.

The bottom line is QT will support a slow transition into daily and you can evolve and expand your daily offering by adding components to your QT system as you see fit.
