How do I add these in Relius? through a DER or through a transaction? I allocated the 2002 TH contribution through a transaction, now I need to add the 2001 and 2000 TH contributions. What's the best way to do this?

what are these, corrections for prior missed top heavy contributions?

I would guess then it depends on how you want to show them.

If I had absolutely no transfers, I would use a DER and run them as a 'transfer' using the takeover transaction and relabled the header to say 'prior top heavy' or something similar. that would be the easiest.

Here are some guidelines (my cheat-sheet) for creating employer contribution over-rides, if that helps.

- Use the 'Employer' Element from the 'Payroll' DER Group

- This is the field viewed when you scroll across at the Compensation Entry Screen

- These amounts can also be imported using a DER.

- The plan specs must be set so that there is no employer contribution amount or percentage

If approaching limits...

- Have the limit set (to x%) at the top right of the Specifications/Contributions Screen in Specifications?? This one part I'm not sure about - tricky?.

- May wind up running transaction, changing specs, running transaction; this can be complex and you may not be able to reverse transactions once they are set (you may not want to). You may have to un-tick the apply 415 box in transactions.

Would recommend also that you consider contacting Relius support, of course. They're excellent at helping out at the beginning stages.

If you simply want to set the _balances_ for determination, and you don't care about prior contributions, per se, then it's pretty easy. Click Data entry /plan specs /top heavy & adp/acp data and enter balances for keys & totals.

Bill
