Guest rachd Posted May 20, 2003 Posted May 20, 2003 How is it reported on the Schedule I when an employer uses forfeitures to reduce the employer contribution? For example, the contribution was $10,000 but $1,000 was forfeitures reducing their match. Is the contribution listed in line 2a1 $10,000 or $9,000? If forfeitures are reallocated instead, how is that shown? It wouldn't be considered an additional employer contribution, would it? Thanks in advance for your response! Rachel
R. Butler Posted May 20, 2003 Posted May 20, 2003 If forfeitures reduce and $9,000 was deposited. We show the contrib. as $9,000 on the Schedule I. If forfeitures reallocate I don't see that it is an issue on the Schedule I. The money is always in the Plan its changing accounts.
pmacduff Posted May 20, 2003 Posted May 20, 2003 I'm with R. Butler - we report the actual deductible contribution of $9,000, forfeitures are already in the assets of the plan, whether they reduce the contribution or reallocate.
