QT & PCAnywhere

Is anyone using PCAnywhere with QT 4.3? 5.0?

We're still at 4.3 trying to work out a few hiccups. The biggest problem is with remote user locking up and host not resetting session.

We'd like to make this work to avoid going with terminal server and additional licensing $$$. We'll probably be going to 5.0 early next year.

Any input would be appreciated.

(1) We used to use PCAnywhere at my office (back in the days of QT 4.0). My only PCAnywhere suggestion is to make sure you have the latest patches and modem definition files from the vendor (Norton, right?) loaded onto your computers. This problem may or may not be related to Quantech..I've seen PCAnywhere hosts lock up without resetting while Quantech is not being used.

(2) If you end up going with Terminal Server, I suggest waiting until after you upgrade to 5.0. There are a few Quantech-Terminal Server issues we have not been able to iron out. We're a QT 4.1 shop. Corbel doesn't support QT 4.1 on Terminal Server. My guess is they don't support it for QT 4.3, either. They do, however, support it for QT 5.0.

(3) Are the extra licensing costs you write of for Terminal Server or for QT? I don't think you need additional licensing for QT, and Terminal Server licenses aren't too expensive, although you have to buy them in bundles (minimum of 10, I think). The bigger costs associated with using Terminal Server are the hardware and expertise needed to configure and run it.
