Guest shronesz Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 What plans are required to provide this schedule. Instruction say plan covered under title IV. I have a professional organization with 23 employees. Must they provide this schedule? Thanks, Susan
Guest ElKH Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 Schedule B filing is required for Defined Benefit plans. If this retirement plan is not a Defined Benefit Plan, you needn't worry.
Guest shronesz Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 I know that the Schedule B is required, I am asking if the Schedule of Active Participant data is required to be attached to the B for this type of plan and what plans must provide this attachment. Thanks ElKH
WDIK Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 Doesn''t Title IV pertain to coverage by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation? My recollection is that the Schedule of Active Participants should be attached if the plan is covered by PBGC. A professional service corporation with less than 25 participants is exempt from PBGC. ...but then again, What Do I Know?
david rigby Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 Be careful. A "professional organization" may not be a "professional service corporation". I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
Guest adallen Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 Usually it is just for a PBGC covered plan, if your plan isn't then no need to add this attachment to the Schdule B, at least that's my understanding.
Guest shronesz Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 Thanks Pax and Adallen. After further research, the company is a Professional service organization, not covered by PBGC, so the attachment is not required. Thanks for your input. Susan
mwyatt Posted July 17, 2003 Posted July 17, 2003 Ah, but be careful. You say "23 employees"; how many participants (including terminated vesteds, etc.). Once you cross over the 25 participant (active OR inactive) you are subject to PBGC coverage.
