Guest carsonv Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 I have a 401k plan where forfeitures reduce the employer contribution. The only thing is, there was no ER contribution made. There was no match or discretionary contribution and the forfeitures were not reallocated to any participants. I dont want to put a negativie amount on sch I for ER contributions. Has anyone had this problem? If they had contributed a match, for example, I would reduce the match by the FF amt and put the net amt as ER contribution.....any help would be appreciated
Guest ElKH Posted July 10, 2003 Posted July 10, 2003 The forfeitures are already plan assets, so you do nothing. If the forfeitures had been allocated, you would show nothing on the employer contributions line. If the employer failed to allocate the forfeitures, or there were no forfeitures to allocate, you would show nothing on the employer contributions line. Long ago, those forfeiture dollars were part of an employer contribution, and they were declared on the Schedule I. Now they are in the plan just waiting to be shuffled.
