Guest rocnrols2 Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 Has anyone seen anything out there that analyzes whether a dependent care ESA is more valuable if an employee is also eligible for the dependent care credit, the child credit (which was just increased to $1,000 for 2003) and the earned income credit?
papogi Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 Go here: http://www.125plan.com/FF-DependentCare.pdf That's the best I've seen so far, but there might be some on-line calculators at some financial sites that might help, but they probably don't go into enough detail by factoring in EIC and the child credit. I could be wrong. As a very general rule, if someone is eligible for the EIC, then they are in a position where the credits will almost surely outweigh the FSA benefit.
Guest rocnrols2 Posted August 8, 2003 Posted August 8, 2003 That was pretty decent. It does reflect the changes to the dependent care credit for 2003. What I was hoping for was something that would look at the recent marginal rate reductions and take into account the earned income credit and the child credit, which was recently raised to $1,000.
SLuskin Posted August 11, 2003 Posted August 11, 2003 The EBIA Cafeteria Plan manual June 2003 update covers this in detail.
