Guest BeneGal Posted October 15, 2003 Posted October 15, 2003 Obviously it would not be an exhaustive listing but rather than sit here and think up a zillion "ok" items and a few "not ok" items... I was wondering if there's already one compiled out there... Thanks
Guest JerseyGirl Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 I guess not; that's why no one has responded to your post! Beyond the antacid, allergy med, pain reliever, and cold med listed in the actual Revenue Ruling, we are all trying to find our way. It also states in the ruling that these items were purchased to 'alleviate or treat personal injuries or sickness'. Perhaps if we use that as our criteria we will be able to come up with a reasonable list -- in a few months!
Guest kwong98 Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 I found this site that has a list of "ok" and "not ok" items. You can go to: http://www.125plan.com/OTC.pdf
GBurns Posted October 17, 2003 Posted October 17, 2003 I guess that we will start seeing a lot of lists as many "advisors etc" jump on the "expert" bandwagon. Looking at the list I wonder what medical condition makes "denture adhesive" and "medicated bath products" okay but "hot and cold compresses" and "arm and leg braces" not? George D. Kirk Maldonado Posted October 17, 2003 Posted October 17, 2003 I disagree with that list. I think that "oral care" should be covered for someone with periodontal disease. Kirk Maldonado
Guest abrandw Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 The Physicians Desk Reference for Nonprescription Drugs may be helpful.
Guest MSMA Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 Reference the website mentioned in this thread: Under NOT covered there is an item "sum" care...the webmaster advises that it should read "sun" care.... (do they mean tanning?)...and they are going to correct the list. BUT would it be allowed for Seasonal Affective Disorder? Or as a treatment for psoriasis? I might consider this under the "okay, but only with a doctor's note"
Guest rosemary562 Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 We are referring our participants to the list at http://www.pdrhealth.com/drug_info/otcdrug...phaindexa.shtml It is not a complete list - doesn't include Prilosec or Zantac. I assume this is one that will be updated regularly though, since it's relied upon by health care providers.
