Guest B2Randolph Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 When filing the Final 5500 on a terminated pension plan, are the various schedules required to be filed as well or can you simply file the Form 5500 only? Can't seem to find answer in either the Form 5500 Instructions or in the 5500 Preparer's Manual.
Blinky the 3-eyed Fish Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 Regular schedules must be filed. "What's in the big salad?" "Big lettuce, big carrots, tomatoes like volleyballs."
Lori Foresz Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 What about if it is a pension plan that terminated in the prior year? Would a Schedule B be required or is that no longer applicable? I thought that a B was not required if the plan was terminated or frozen in a prior year, but I'm not completely sure. Just a thought.
Blinky the 3-eyed Fish Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 You are correct that a Schedule B is not required to be filed for years after the year of termination. Rev. Rul. 79-237 states that the funding standard account is not required to be maintained past the year of termination. "What's in the big salad?" "Big lettuce, big carrots, tomatoes like volleyballs."
