Guest KarinB Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 I have a particiapnt who is taking Revival Soy as a daily supplement to ease the eay through menapause. Would this fall under the "Dual Purpose" items?
Guest lschaab Posted November 11, 2003 Posted November 11, 2003 It seems to me that with a medical practitioners note/recommendation you could virtually run any expense through your FSA. If a practitioners note identifying the condition accompanies a vitamin or supplement purchase, then it would be considered eligible under the dual purpose 'bucket'. I've seen that soy products support the prevention of breast cancer, for example, but recognize that you have to have the condition in order to necessitate the purchase. Or have the high probability (I think that is right) of getting a particular disease based on family history, etc. Again, I think you can argue for just about any medical expense as being reimbursable, who is to dispute a medical practitioners recommendation?
