Guest RONNIE WASEL Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 Client files form 5500-EZ that is due on 11/30/2003, I was out of town and my secretary called in sick so the extension did not get mailed on the due date of 12/1/2003, rather it got mailed on 12/2/2003. What should I do? DFVC for one due even though this is an extension? Thanks, Ronnie
WDIK Posted December 3, 2003 Posted December 3, 2003 The DFVC program is not available for EZ filers. ...but then again, What Do I Know?
Guest RONNIE WASEL Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 Which route should we take? Does that mean they cannot get out of the penalties?
E as in ERISA Posted December 4, 2003 Posted December 4, 2003 If you get a notice -- which may even be doubtful -- write a description of the facts here (how the form was timely completed and signed, etc....) and describe what procedures have been implemented to make sure that it won't happen again. In all likelihood, any penalties would be abated.
Guest mmcgee Posted December 5, 2003 Posted December 5, 2003 When the notice is received, just tell them it was an oversight and not intential. Also, point out that there is no history of the return being filed late. I have used this on notices received and the penalties have been abated.
