Porcelain Veneers?

I would consider this a cosmetic procedure. Does anyone know if there is a medically necessary application of porcelain veneers?

Although it would be highly unusual for porcelain veneers to be the correction method of choice, I suppose it could be argued that if they were applied to ‘restore full form and function to the dentition’, they would be considered medically necessary. There are some cases of decalcification of teeth as a result of medication use (usually taken as a child, or taken by the mother during pregnancy), which result in the teeth being discolored and very weak. Do circumstances such as these make the veneers less cosmetic in nature? I doubt it. Unless the dentist can provide some really, really good reasoning to support the medical necessity, I would say they are not an eligible expense.
