Guest VMRG Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 If we have a POP plan, can we also pre-tax contributions to employee HSA accounts? We're in the process of setting up the POP. Do we need to upgrade to a different type of Cafeteria plan to include the HSA? We don't want the dependent care and FSA.
g8r Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 You can just add the HSA as an additional benefit election. It would be just like insured benefits - an election is made to have money sent to another vehicle that will provide the benefit. Instead of the vehicle being insurance, it's the HSA. The individual would need to have an HSA established with a qualified financial institution serving as either a trustee or custodian that could accept the contribution being funded through the cafeteria plan.
