Guest meggie Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Can anyone point me to Section 89 of the US Department of Labor Relations? Apparently there is a required participant notice under this section related to participant directed investments for all employee benefit plans. Is this nothing more than ERISA 404© requirements? Thanks.
Harwood Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Not sure what the US Dept of Labor Relations is. Probably unrelated to your question: Section 89 was an infamous section of the Internal Revenue Code that was going to require extensive testing and reporting on certain employer-provided benefit plans. Thankfully this section of the IRC of 1986 was repealed.
GBurns Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I think that you are probably looking for Title 29 United States Code which covers the Department of Labor, which is more commonly referred to as 29USC. Here is a link: http://www.access.gpo.gov/uscode/uscmain.html Please note that it might not be up to date especially with the new Fair Standards regarding overtime pay etc. in Chapter 8. Also as a general rule the Dept Regulations and Written Determinations such as Advisory Opinions are usually of more value. Do a Google search for "29CFR" and for "Fair Pay". Also visit www.ahipubs.com for useful explanations and reports which can be found in the Sidebar on the left of the page and visit the DoL website. George D.
