Guest dsw713 Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Dental ins. carrier is not issuing Schedule A for 2004. Says new legislation is holding it up. Anyone aware of this?
Guest b2kates Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 No, and see DOL Advisory Opinion 2005-02A (Feb. 24, 2005) for authority why it must be provided
Leopurrd Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 As a side note, per our Form 5500 prep manual from Corbel, it states that on the Schedule A, you can list "Information Not Provided". Supposedly the DOL will be following up on the insurance companies not providing this information??? Vicki
R. Butler Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 Are they not issuing it or are they just delaying issuing it? We work with several insurance companies where the Sch. A's are being delayed due to the DOL Advisory Opinuion b2Kates mentions. Its not new legislation, the DOL just further clarified some info. that should be included on the Sch. A. At least one the insurance companies we work with is redoing their Sch. A's to comply with the guidance & thus we won't get them until June.
AmyR Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Due to this new Opinion letter, we are receiving Schedule A's that contain both the commission paid to the broker, but also a "bonus" that is paid to the broker out of the insurance company's separate "marketing" fund (it is not charged back to the employer purchasing the policy). Has anyone looked at this issue as to how to report it on schedule A - i.e. lump it in with the commission or report it separately as a fee?
