What are some of your favorite books to look to for inspiration?

Personally, I keep coming back to "The Wal-Mart Way by Don Soderquist. The fomrer Vice Chairamn & COO outlines the company's 12 keys to success, and while it mainly focuses on examples in a corporate setting, there are also themes that can be applied to every day life.

Try John 3:16 and the rest of the contents of the book.

Many times, storytelling can be a very effective way of receiving inspirational material. The Bible is a very good source, as articulated earlier.

Another inspiring book, for me, was "Atlas Shrugged," by Ayn Rand.

"Now I Can Die in Peace", the story of the 2004 Red Sox, by Bill Simmons.

"Mind Game", about how the Red Sox won the World Series, by Steve Goldman.

"Why Not Us?", all about the 86-year journey to redemption, by Leigh Montvile.

"Blood Feud: The Red Sox, Yankees, and the Struggle of Good versus Evil", by Bill Nowlin.

Seriously, now that I've had my fun, here's my real answer: my husband is my inspiration. He spends every day of his life saving children's lives. Whenever I need to be inspired, I just think about him and all the things that he accomplishes.

There is a book that came out recently called "Pure Gold: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at a builder of the Kingdom." I think it's a great story of what one person can do to bring people to Christ. http://www.promontorypublishing.com

I get my inspiration from the Chicken Soup Series. It love it because it is composed of many short stories which won't bore you at all. I hate reading books but this one made me read the entire thing simply because it is easy to get along with. You will learn a lot of lessons from this one.

I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
