RCK Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Our 5500 preparer is telling us that it is no longer acceptable to create an attachment to the SSA, allowing one to put 50 people on the same page. As a result, we are looking at a SSA filing that is 600 pages long. I thought this might have come up before, but my search turned up nothing that was on point. Confirmation or rebuttal?
Lori Friedman Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 The Department of Labor has backed off from its position and given us another "reprieve" this year. Contrary to the 2004 Schedule SSA instructions, it's ok to use a non-standard list attachment. If you call the EBSA helpdesk, you'll get verbal confirmation that the 2004 instructions won't be enforced. As an alternative, have you considered using the EFAST Electronic Filing System? You can import Schedule SSA data into a return and then file paperless. Lori Friedman
AndyH Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Hi Lori: Where did you get this invaluable insider info, the 406 club?
Lori Friedman Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Andy, No, I found this information inside the scoreboard, where Manny hangs out during pitching changes. Actually, I received a phone call from a DOL employee who happens to be a former colleague. Lori Friedman
