Heating Pad an OTC expense?

Received a request for reimbursement for Bayer Aspirin, Bengay Heat Patch and a Heating Pad. All of these were on the receipt from a Walgreen's. The receipt had a "F" in front of each item with a note that these were approved OTC expenses for a flexible spending account. I can understand the aspirin and heat patch but not sure about the heating pad. Any comments? Also, is there a definitive list provided by the IRS on what otc items are approved?

I would consider a heating pad to be for therapeutic purposes, more so than for personal comfort. Unless specifically excluded by the Code, I'd be inclined to allow it.

Thanks for your reply. I queried the employee and he stated he had hurt his back moving, therefore, the purchases for a heat pact, bengay etc and the heating pad.

Walgreens is the first chainstore or drugstore that is putting on their receipts a notation that certains items bought qualify for FSA reimbursement..never had seen that before.
