Guest esi-jht Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Need clarification, please. Welfare benefit plan is funded through a VEBA. There are more than 100 participants so now we are "large welfare plan". Because the funding is through the VEBA we are no longer exempt from the audit requirement. We now need to file Schedule H. The audit is going to cover the Welfare Benefit Plan and not just the VEBA, correct? Are all of these statements correct?
Guest b2kates Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 the audit being required is part of the 5500 and will cover the welfare plan, the VEBA has its own separate filing; either a 1041 or a 990. Each may have a separate audit requirement
E as in ERISA Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Yes, you audit the entire plan and all benefits even if some of the benefits are not funded through the trust.
