Guest PAINPA Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 I know this is a Relius Admin message board... Has anyone submitted an electronic filing (EFAST)? via modem... The connection type that Relius Gov't forms only offeres is thru a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and the IRS is not accepting it this way until next year. I cannot get Relius Govt Forms to recognize the previous setup I had for dialing into EFAST. Any users with a successful submission? Jim

Jim Hi Jim, EFAST specifies a modem to modem direct dial FTP connection between your computer and the EFAST electronic filing (ELF) servers. This is the same methodology they have used since it was first implemented in 2000. The Relius team has to use this connection methodology to obtain certification for ELF each year, and it is tested monthly by the Relius development team. There is nothing in the specification regarding VPNs, nor is there likely to be (at least until EFAST2 is implemented, if then). The modem to modem direct dial FTP connection can be difficult to set up, because most computers by default direct TCP/IP traffic to a network card nowdays, and not to a modem, which prevents this connection from becoming established. Proxy servers, firewalls, etc. can all contribute to the difficulty. I suggest you call the Relius support line (888-881-8801 option 2) for help getting your connection established. They should be able to help walk you through the process. Best Regards, Michael (from Relius)
