Very Basic Question - Fee?

There should be a simple way to find out the answer to my question, but I haven't found it yet, so am turning to this board for help.

I'm just trying to figure out the estimated cost of filing a Form 5500. I understand that the filing fee may vary, depending on which schedules are required.

But I'm trying to help a client understand the cost ramifications of filing separate Forms 5500 or of doing a wrap plan.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, or provide a ballpark estimate of the filing cost of a Form 5500, I'd be most grateful!!!

Are you sure you asking for form 5500, as with any reporting return there is no fee for filing. other forms, i.e. 5310 or determination requests have user fees.

Call around and ask a few accounting firms what they charge. When I was in public accouting the charge varied depending on the type of plan. Was anything from $250 to $2500.

Filing or preparing? There is no cost to file.

For my clients preparation of the form is part of normal plan fees. For my own two cents and others might disagree but the preparation of plan documents, related amendments, and other documentation of that ilk outweigh the costs of the Form 5500. If there's a valid reason to maintain multiple plans, then the cost of the Form 5500 is negligible in comparison.
