Tom Poje Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Just in case you don't subscribe to it, this is from the Benefits Link daily newsletter (hint: its free, contains lots of useful info, get your daily e-mail from BenefitsLink and then I wouldn't have to post things like this) http://www.americanbenefitscouncil.org/doc...enial072110.pdf
mwyatt Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 "...whereas a blanket extension would require changes to systems, which may be complicated and costly." Hmmm, if that so, why on Part I, Box D, is the second check box labelled "automatic extension?" Still waiting for the inevitable wave of ID fraud cases arising from the posting of signatures on the Internet courtesy of DOL thinking.
doombuggy Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Still waiting for the inevitable wave of ID fraud cases arising from the posting of signatures on the Internet courtesy of DOL thinking. Where are you seeing a signature? I have been sending my clients a link to the posting on the EFAST website and all it does is print the person's name in the box where they would have signed the paper? Or maybe you are referring to the Sch B attachments (which I don't work with)? QKA, QPA, ERPA
Tom Poje Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 if the client (becasue they are computer illiterate or for whatever reason) gives you permission to 'sign' for him, then you have to attach a client signed 5500. i assume that is what is being referred to.
mwyatt Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Correct Tom. Here's some interesting verbiage from the SF instructions on the extension item: You are filing using a special extension of time to file the Form 5500-SF annual return/report that has been announced by the IRS, DOL, or PBGC. If you checked that you are using a special extension of time, enter a description of the extension of time in the space provided.
12AX7 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 What credential does a TPA need to file for a client?
HarleyBabe Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 What credential does a TPA need to file for a client? No credential needed. You need to file for an electronic pin and you attach a copy of the signed forms to Efile. You do need authorization from the client to file on their behalf.
