austin3515 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 We doint know the filing acknowledgment ID, the prior tpa is being unresponsive, etc. (hypothetical situation, but I'm not seeing an obvious workaround, and this woiuld seem to be a common situation). Austin Powers, CPA, QPA, ERPA
Lou S. Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Is there something I don't know about amended 5500s? That could be the case. I was unaware you needed a filing ackowledgement ID to send in an amended return. Going forward, it would seem you can grab a copy of the 5500 that was filed from the EFAST site, if you are concerned whether or not it was filed, and simply send in an amended filing. My understanding is the amended return will replace the orginal that is up on the site. The client can go in with their log in to see all plans filed, pre & post amended but what is up on the public disclousre site would just be the amended one. Do I have this wrong?
BeanCounterBlues Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Based on amendeds I've filed under EFASTII I believe this is correct (you see only the latest amendment on the public disclosure site). Somewhere I read that the Ack ID should be included "if possible" - this info I'm thinking of was stated by DOL (website or something, I apologize I can't remember). The reason I remember this issue in general though is my software provider would NOT submit the e file if I did not include the Ack ID. EG to the software that was a "fatal" error. So maybe this is more a software issue but DOL does not require the Ack ID? Don't quote me on that as I'm going off (not always so perfect) memory.
