12AX7 Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 My client just EFiled their 2010 Form 5500-SF. Relius Web Client sends me a status update email for the filing indicating that the User ID and PIN are missing and that processing has stopped. When I check on the EFAST website, the filing is there ! Is the DOL now accepting a filing under these conditions? I've not seen something like this before.
ESOP Guy Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Check the signature line of the 5500 on the EFAST2 website. I believe it will say it has an invalid signature.
K2retire Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 So as far as EFAST is concerned, the return was not signed.
ESOP Guy Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 It should say "Filed with authorized/valid electronic signature" and the name of the person should be to the right of that. It has been about a month since I last had that happen. But I recall it saying something about an invalid signature, not being blank. I am rather sure you need to file an amended return with the right PIN. I will admit we use a different system, but EFAST2 is EFAST2. You should be able to see a valid signature message on that system. If you system gives you the actual EFAST2 error message the DOL toll free number people can be very helpful.
chc93 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Also, for the general public, I think that EFAST2 will only show the most current filing for a plan, not all amendments, and no status. But, I think that if the filer that signed would log in to EFAST2 (with UserID and password), he will see all forms including amended forms and status of each form filing.
12AX7 Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 The client will EFile today an amended return. I know that the 5500-SF was transmitted without Filing Signer credentials. We all understand this is not a correct procedure. The disturbing issue is that the DOL accepted the filing without the electronic signature, whereas in the past, I had never seen this occur or thought it was possible.
K2retire Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 They didn't exactly accept it -- you did get the processing stopped message indicating a problem.
